Asda customer slams ‘worst ever’ frozen microwave meal of doner meat and chips

An Asda customer was left very disappointed after tucking into a doner meat and chips frozen microwave meal they picked up at the store – and the post they shared has gone viral on social media.

A photo on Reddit shows a handful of chips with a few cuts of doner meat and a sachet of chilli sauce on top, as the caption reads: ‘Doner meat and chips microwave meal from Asda is possibly the worst thing I’ve ever eaten.’

The shopper says they bought the Heat Me, Eat Me Doner Meat & Chips frozen microwave meal out of “curiosity”, which sells for just £1.

The picture attracted hundreds of comments, leaving people stunned as the customer clarified that it showed the entire portion that came in the box.

One person replied to say: “It scares me that this was approved by someone to sell for human consumption.”

A second wrote: “That is quite literally the saddest f***ing thing I have seen in my 28 years on this earth.”

A third commented: “This is on you. Why would you think this was a good idea? Microwaved chips is already a big red flag,”, to which the customer joked: “But… Clickety click, micro chips!”

And another asked: “Why would you even buy that in the first place? Even if it looked promising, donor meat and chips is the easiest thing to get in any direction.”

However, on Asda’s website the product has been awarded a few glowing reviews, with one giving it top marks and a five star rating, reading: “For £1, you can’t really fault this. It tastes like any microwave doner meat and chips you may have had before. Think frozen doner kebab and that’s the meat you get. Think microwave chips and that’s the chips you get. Sauce is really nice.

“As long as you don’t have high expectations like some reviewers on here, you will be more than happy eating this. You get what you pay for, if you want a big portion of better quality doner meat and chips, go to a takeaway and pay more but this is perfectly fine for the price.”

In response to the viral post, an Asda spokesperson said: “This product is a part of our affordable and convenient range of microwaveable snacks and has received positive reviews from customers on our website.

“Choice is important to our customers and we offer a wide range of products so that everyone can be sure to find products they love at Asda.”
